Pacquiao vs Cotto, Nov 14th, 2009, Huge Fight

News - Sports Articles

NEW YORK — The cut discussed at Yankee Stadium on Thursday had nothing to do with the one solid swing Derek Jeter needs to produce the hit that will surpass Lou Gehrigfor the New York Yankees record.

It had everything to do with the world welterweight championship bout between Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs) andMiguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs) on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas.

Cotto suffered a severe cut above his left eye that required 14 stitches to close when he gained a split decision against Joshua Clottey in mid-June.

The native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, does not expect that old wound to cause him a problem again in a 12-round bout that looms as the most difficult of his career.

"That's not the first cut I received in my career and not one of them reopened again," said Cotto, 28. "I trust in the guy who stitched me, and I trust in myself that it will not be a problem."

Pacquiao, though, smiled broadly when the gash that gave Cotto problems in the late rounds vs. Clottey was mentioned to him. Asked if that might be something he can exploit by targeting that area, the native of General Santos City in the Philippines laughed and said, "We have our chance."

Pacquiao, renowned for his speed, displayed surprising power when he needed one devastating punch to knock out defending junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton in the second round May 2.

"The punch he gave Ricky Hatton, if he hits with this kind of punch, he can throw Mike Tyson to the canvas," said Cotto, referring to the ex-heavyweight champion. "But I'll be ready."

Approximately 1,000 fans attended a public news conference at Yankee Stadium to begin the promotion of the eagerly anticipated Pacquiao-Cotto clash.

Yankees chief operating officer Lonn Trost said he'd like to see boxing come back to Yankee Stadium and mentioned he'd be interested in hosting a mega-fight next year between the winner of Pacquiao-Cotto vs. the winner of the Sept. 19 Floyd Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez fight in Las Vegas.

"There'll be a winner of this fight and a winner of the Mayweather fight," Trost said. "Where better to hold that fight than Yankee Stadium?"

Creatine Supplements...

So, what is creatine? Our bodies naturally make the compound, which is used to supply energy to our muscles. It is produced in the liver, pancreas, and kidneys, and is transported to the body's muscles through the bloodstream. Once it reaches the muscles, it is converted into phosphocreatine (creatine phosphate). This high-powered metabolite is used to regenerate the muscles' ultimate energy source, ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
Unlike steroids or drugs, creatine is 100% natural and occurs naturally in many foods; therefore, it can never be banned from any sports or international competitions (unless they banned eating meat). Many foods especially herring, salmon, tuna, and beef contain some creatine. However, the very best source of creatine by far is creatine monohydrate because it contains more creatine per weight of material than any other source. sells only high quality 99.9% pure pharmaceutical-grade creatine monohydrate.

Nitric Oxide Supplements

1. What is it and where does it come from?
Nitric Oxide is a free form gas that is produced in the body and is used by the body to communicate with other cells in the body. To produce this gas, enzymes in the body break down the amino acid Arginine.

Nitric Oxide is a molecule consisting of one atom of nitrogen and one atom of oxygen. The production of Nitric Oxide occurs when the amino acid L-arginine is converted into L-citruline through an enzyme group known as Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS). The chemical process of conversion is shown in figure 1.

Protein Supplements...

High protein diets, like Atkins Diet and South Beach, continue to gain in popularity among many dieters. Some athletes even use these diets and find they lose weight. Depending upon the type of athlete you are and what sort of sport you play, you might want to question the role of the high protein eating plan. Athletes should realize that much of the weight lost on these diets is a result of a decrease in total calories and the water loss that occurs with muscle glycogen depletion. If you perform high intensity or endurance training you probably know that glycogen depletion is one of the reasons athletes 'bonk' or 'hit the wall' in endurance competition. Without enough easy to access energy, in the form of glycogen, we simply run out of fuel.
